First mission in Vienna
„The Third Man“ (1949) is a wonderful movie set in postwar Vienna. In the beginning of the story Harry Lime (starring Orson Welles) is burried. His friend Holly Martins (Joseph Cotten) thinks that Harry was murdered. Looking for the murder he not only finds out that Harry was a criminal, but also witnesses that his former buddy is still alive...
Great parts of the film were shot on location. The city is shown from a dark side - chasing scenes with expressionistic shadows on bombed out buildings and dark figures in narrow streets make a haunting atmosphere.
Nowadays there are guided tours visiting the film locations offering a unique view on Vienna.
And from today on there is also a mission on „The Third Man“: Der Untote (German for The Undead). It´s the first one in Vienna. The mission claims that Harry is still alive and might be seen at night. Players are chasing his shadow through town passing some of the original film locations. And in the end...
